Job Summary
This role is a full-time, permanent position supporting the Faculty of Social Sciences at a young, innovative university in Duisburg. The IT Specialist will serve as the primary support and consultant for faculty members and researchers on all IT matters. Daily tasks involve developing and maintaining customized IT solutions for research projects, including configuring web applications, creating scripts for data acquisition and analysis, and managing the existing server infrastructure (Linux, Web, Docker). The specialist will also handle user support for Windows, Mac, and mobile devices, manage hardware procurement and setup, and create technical documentation. Key requirements include a background as an IT Specialist (System Integration or Application Development), strong Linux knowledge, and proficiency in scripting languages like PHP, Python, and Shell scripts. This position offers a stable, non-commercial environment focused on continuous learning and innovative projects.
