Job Summary

The Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) is seeking a Scientific Researcher for the Regional Center of the Bavarian Cancer Registry (KR7) in Regensburg. This vital role involves analyzing specific healthcare questions using cancer registry data, focusing on clinical outcomes, quality assurance, and conducting regional and statewide analyses of cancer data. The researcher will be heavily involved in project lifecycle management, including planning, coordination, grant applications, indicator selection, and developing test systems for data processing and reporting. Key qualifications include a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or a related field, strong knowledge of statistical methods, and experience analyzing medical data, ideally in oncology or cancer registration. This position offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to public health planning and healthcare quality improvement in Bavaria, working within an interdisciplinary 'One Health' framework.

Required Skills

Education

Master’s degree or Diploma (University level) in Health Services Research, Epidemiology, Biometrics, Statistics, Public Health/Health Sciences, or another relevant field.

Experience

  • Experience in analyzing medical data, ideally in oncology and/or cancer registration
  • Experience in merging cancer registry data with routine data
  • Experience in planning and conducting epidemiological studies, intervention studies, and multilevel analyses
  • Professional experience with standard statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R)

Additional

  • Comprehensive German language skills (minimum B2 level according to GER) required. This is a temporary contract for up to 36 months, with the aim of permanent employment upon successful performance.
