Job Summary

The State Museum of Natural History Karlsruhe (SMNK) is seeking a dedicated and communicative Collections Manager to oversee Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) management and advance provenance research for its extensive collection of over 5 million objects. This full-time, permanent role involves coordinating and documenting ABS procedures, ensuring compliance with the Nagoya Protocol, and advising other institutions in Baden-Württemberg on these regulations. Day-to-day tasks include supporting curators with loan processes, shipping collection items, integrated pest management, and coordinating various collection management activities. The successful candidate will also work closely with digitization and data curators to enhance documentation and collection-based research. This position requires a strong background in biodiversity sciences, experience in collection and data management, and fluent proficiency in both German and English, offering the chance to work at a nationally recognized research museum with a dynamic, motivated team.

Required Skills

Education

Scientific university degree (Diploma, Master's, or PhD) in Biology or similar disciplines with a focus on Biodiversity, Ecology, or Evolutionary Biology
