Job Summary
This PhD position within the Junior Research Group Precision Microbial Genomics (PMIG) at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig focuses on developing computational tools for analyzing longitudinal metagenomic data. The successful candidate will investigate the dynamics of the human microbiome, focusing on the emergence of genomic variants, horizontal gene transfer, and strain replacement over time. This role involves significant computational work, requiring proficiency in programming (preferably Python or R) and experience with High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments and UNIX filesystems. It offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in microbial genomics within Germany's largest scientific organization, supported by a structured PhD program and a highly collaborative, international team environment.
Required Skills
Education
Master’s Degree/Diploma in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field
Experience
