Job Summary

This role involves establishing and operating the entire IT infrastructure for the Center for Individualized Infection Medicine (CiiM) in Hannover, working closely with the HZI and MHH data centers. As the All-Round IT System Administrator, you will be responsible for planning the setup of the new infrastructure, including networking, servers, virtualization, storage, and telephony. Day-to-day tasks include administering all local systems, implementing new IT services, documenting the infrastructure, and serving as the primary local contact for on-site user support (First-Level Support) across various endpoints (Windows, MacOS, iOS/iPadOS). You will also coordinate with vendors, service providers, and partners, and support scientific applications and lab systems. The position requires extensive experience in IT system administration and solid knowledge of networking and operating systems. The successful candidate will undergo an initial 2-3 month training period in Braunschweig to align systems and processes before deploying the infrastructure in Hannover, offering a unique opportunity to build the IT backbone for a cutting-edge research institute.
