Job Summary

This role is ideal for a highly motivated scientist aiming to pursue a PhD within the Otto Diels Institute for Organic Chemistry at Christian-Albrechts-University zu Kiel. The core focus involves synthesizing photoswitches and thoroughly investigating their structure-property relationships. Day-to-day tasks include extensive synthetic work, integrating Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations, and conducting advanced spectroscopic experiments. Beyond the benchwork, the associate is responsible for analyzing and theoretically preparing results, meticulous documentation, and writing manuscripts for publication. The position also includes a teaching commitment of two hours per week, involving supervising students in practical courses and thesis work, and contributing to general laboratory operations. This is a unique opportunity to combine advanced chemical research with academic teaching responsibilities while working towards a doctoral degree.
