Job Summary

This role involves the interdisciplinary development and enhancement of the TIRA (Tracking and Imaging RAdar) System, one of the world's most powerful large radar systems used for space situational awareness. The Software Engineer will be responsible for the new development and programming of central control components and signal processing systems. Key tasks include implementing new experimental procedures for tracking and imaging space objects, defining interfaces between networked hardware and software, and integrating developed modules into the overall system. The ideal candidate will have a university degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, or related fields, strong proficiency in C++ (modern, C++11 and later) and C, and experience with real-time operating systems and hardware-related programming. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge European space surveillance technology within a renowned research organization.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or Computer Sciences

Experience

  • Professional experience in software development under Unix-like operating systems
  • Experience with real-time operating systems, embedded systems, or hardware-related programming
  • Experience with Yocto Project development tools (preferred)
