This role involves joining a dedicated team responsible for managing and evolving the entire IT infrastructure at the Fraunhofer IFF location. The specialist will actively design, plan, install, and configure Linux systems, driving innovation within the infrastructure. Key daily tasks include consulting with departments to develop modern system architectures, implementing a unified Linux client landscape with Active Directory connectivity, and ensuring smooth updates, patching, and rigorous security measures. The position requires strong expertise in Linux administration and scripting (Bash, Python, Shell) to automate processes and optimize workflows efficiently. Candidates must also possess solid knowledge of network technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Firewall) and be committed to continuous professional development in IT trends. This is a crucial role supporting cutting-edge research in automation, digitalization, and AI.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (System Integration) with additional certification in Linux and network analysis

Experience

  • Professional experience and profound expertise in Linux system administration
  • Experience in configuration management systems (e.g., Ansible) is desirable
  • Experience in virtualization (e.g., Proxmox) is desirable
