Job Summary

This role offers a stable, full-time position focused on the documentation and preparation of radioactive waste for final disposal, primarily for the Konrad repository, within the context of nuclear power plant decommissioning and industrial facility dismantling. Day-to-day responsibilities include verifying waste packages for repository suitability, performing activity and dose rate calculations using specialized software (ReVK/AVK), and creating nuclide distributions and material vectors for declaration. A key function is compiling and reviewing comprehensive documentation packages for final disposal. The ideal candidate holds a degree in natural sciences or engineering (e.g., Nuclear Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Radiation Protection) or possesses equivalent technical qualifications like a Radiation Protection Specialist certification. Experience with Konrad repository documentation procedures and knowledge of radiation protection regulations (StrISchV) are highly advantageous, alongside proficiency in German and English.

Education

University degree (Master/Bachelor) in Natural Sciences or Engineering (e.g., Nuclear Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Radiation Protection); Alternatively, completed training and advanced qualification as a Radiation Protection Specialist or Technician (Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) or comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Experience in creating final repository documentation for the Konrad repository (desirable)
  • Experience regarding decommissioning/dismantling processes concerning preparation and documentation of residual material/waste flow (desirable)
  • Experience in the treatment or conditioning of radioactive materials (advantageous)
