Job Summary

This is a pivotal, tenured position for an outstanding scientist to lead the Division of Nutrition in Cancer Prevention at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), strategically integrated within the new National Cancer Prevention Center (NCPC). The Division Head will be responsible for establishing the "Viessmann Laboratory for Sustainable Healthy Nutrition," focusing on population-based research to develop, implement, and evaluate nutritional interventions aimed at cancer prevention. The role requires proven expertise in public health nutrition, epidemiology, or related fields, with a strong emphasis on translational research and interdisciplinary collaboration. The successful candidate will drive the impact of scientific findings into practice by engaging with schools, healthcare facilities, political decision-makers, and industry partners, ensuring research is transformed into tangible benefits for human health.

Required Skills

Education

PhD, MD, or equivalent degree in life sciences; Habilitation or equivalent academic qualifications

Experience

  • Internationally recognized track record of excellence in cancer prevention and/or nutrition science
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Success in securing competitive external funding
  • Experience in conceptually leading and methodologically implementing complex intervention trials or observational studies
  • Evidence of effective and modern teaching and further education experience
