Job Summary

This role involves supporting the Chair of Theoretical Ecology, which focuses on theory, modeling, computer simulations, statistics, Data Science, and AI within ecology, evolution, and conservation. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming and maintaining scientific software, primarily using R, Python, and C++. Key daily tasks include the organization and maintenance of ecological data and databases, alongside the administration of the scientific computing infrastructure (CPU/GPU servers). Candidates should possess a degree in a quantitative science and have experience with scientific data acquisition and analysis, ideally within the field of ecology. Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed university degree in a quantitative science or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Experience in the acquisition and analysis of scientific data, ideally in ecology
  • Good programming knowledge, ideally in R, Python, and C++
  • Experience in creating and maintaining software projects, especially R packages
  • Experience and knowledge in Statistics, Numerics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and AI (advantageous)
