Job Summary

This role involves supporting the Professorship for Theoretical Ecology, focusing on theory, modeling, computer simulations, statistics, data science, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) within ecology, evolution, and conservation. The successful candidate will be responsible for the programming and maintenance of scientific software, primarily using R, Python, and C++. Key daily tasks include organizing and maintaining ecological data and databases, as well as administering the hardware and software infrastructure for scientific computing (CPU/GPU servers). Candidates should possess a degree in a quantitative science and have experience in scientific data analysis, software project maintenance (including R packages, Git, and CI), and ideally, knowledge of statistics, machine learning, and deep learning. Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed degree in a quantitative science or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Experience in the collection and analysis of scientific data, ideally in ecology
  • Good programming skills, ideally in R, Python, and C++
  • Experience in the creation and maintenance of software projects, especially R packages
  • Experience with associated software development methods (e.g., Git, CI)
