Job Summary

This is a key leadership role as the Head of the IT Department (Sachgebietsleitung IT) for the Chamber of Agriculture of Lower Saxony, a public corporation with approximately 2,500 employees. Based in Oldenburg, the successful candidate will lead a team of currently 23 employees and be responsible for the strategic conception and continuous development of the organization's entire IT landscape. Day-to-day duties include planning, steering, and managing critical IT projects, optimizing existing systems, and overseeing network architecture and central IT and telecommunication systems. The position requires a strong background in IT leadership, strategic thinking, and expertise in network technology and IT security management. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a stable career path within the public sector, flexible working hours, and opportunities for professional development, starting May 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Required Skills

Education

Master's or Diploma (University) degree in (Business) Informatics, or equivalent qualification; OR Qualification for the first or second entry-level career track (Group 2) in General Services through a university degree in administrative science (Bachelor or Master) with relevant professional experience; OR Degree in Administrative Informatics; OR Certified IT Business Engineer (IHK) / Certified IT Business Engineer certification after successful vocational training.

Experience

  • Practical experience in IT leadership functions (advantageous)
  • Experience in IT project management (advantageous)
  • Experience in strategic development of IT systems and processes (advantageous)

  • The position is based in Oldenburg, Germany. Applicants must meet the requirements for pay grade 13 (TV-L) or salary group A 13 (NBesG) for public service.
