Job Summary

This role involves supporting a third-party funded research project within the Natural and Active Ingredient Chemistry department, focusing on bioactivity testing essential for developing compounds in medicine and crop protection. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing samples and conducting screenings of natural products and test substances using various cell-based assays (bacteria, fungi, human cells) and nematode assays. Key tasks include meticulous data collection, documentation in electronic lab books and databases, and maintaining the operational readiness of the screening laboratories. You will also assist scientists in establishing and optimizing assay protocols and provide practical guidance to new team members and students. This position requires a background in laboratory technology or life sciences, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to experimental work following standard operating procedures (SOPs), offering an engaging opportunity in a modern, international research environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational degree as PTA (Pharmaceutical Technical Assistant), BTA (Biological Technical Assistant), MTA (Medical Technical Assistant), CTA (Chemical Technical Assistant), or a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or Biology.

Experience

  • Professional knowledge regarding microbial or eukaryotic cell culture and corresponding cell-based assays/screenings
  • Experience in experimental work following standard work protocols (SOPs)
  • Experience in documenting experimental work and measurement results

  • The position is a full-time, fixed-term contract until September 30, 2028. For foreign degrees, a fee-based equivalence check must be presented at the time of employment.
