Job Summary

This role involves leading the Conformity Assessment Office (KBS) within the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Germany's national metrology institute. The successful candidate will provide technical and organizational leadership for the working group, coordinating and advancing the PTB's conformity assessment activities for over 160 types of measuring instruments under legal metrology requirements. Day-to-day tasks include managing staff, ensuring the competence and maintenance of the KBS according to legal standards, coordinating procedures for quality assurance recognition in measurement device manufacturing, and representing the KBS in national, European, and international bodies (e.g., NoBoMet). The position requires a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering field, coupled with significant experience in legal metrology and device conformity assessment, offering a chance to shape the quality assurance and development of statutory measurement systems in an internationally recognized environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master/Diploma) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable natural or engineering science, with a completed Ph.D.

Experience

  • Professional experience in legal metrology and conformity assessment of measuring instruments
  • Experience as a recognized Auditor, or willingness to undergo training to become one
