Job Summary

This permanent, full-time position in Göttingen seeks a GIS Coordination and Geodata Management Specialist to drive the conceptual and technical advancement of the county administration's Geodata Information Systems. Key responsibilities include designing and developing the central geodata management strategy, advising specialized departments on implementing new spatial projects, and ensuring compliance with EU directives like INSPIRE and national Geodata Infrastructure (GDI) standards. The role involves hands-on administration of the central database-supported geodata storage, analyzing and providing spatial data via WebGIS and Geoportals, and providing essential First and Second-Level support for applications like QGIS and TerraWeb. Successful candidates must hold a degree in Geoinformatics, Cartography, or a related spatial science field, possess deep knowledge of public sector geodata law, and be proficient in modern IT architectures and specific GIS tools, demonstrating strong service orientation and problem-solving skills.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university or technical college degree in Environmental or Spatial Sciences (e.g., Geoinformatics, Cartography, Surveying, Spatial Planning, Geography), or a comparable degree with fundamental knowledge in the use of Geoinformation Systems.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the conception, planning, development, and functional-technical implementation of Geographic Information Systems and regional Geoportals
  • Professional experience applying Geodata Law for the public sector (laws, ordinances, and directives)
  • Professional experience with internal governmental processes and responsibilities in spatial domains (e.g., construction and environment)
  • Professional experience in the system and application support of existing GIS applications, including managing external service providers
