Job Summary

This critical leadership role involves heading the Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT) Process Performance / Process Engineering team at the Penzberg site, focusing on biologics drug substance manufacturing. The Associate Director will define and execute the strategic vision for process performance, ensuring the robustness, efficiency, and sustainability of commercial product manufacturing processes. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading a team of scientists and engineers, optimizing process performance through continuous improvement initiatives, managing the department budget and KPIs, and making strategic decisions regarding product roadmaps and risk mitigation across the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate must possess a Master's degree in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience in biotechnology, coupled with strong leadership skills, business acumen, and fluent English communication abilities, making this a unique opportunity to shape the future of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

Required Skills

Education

Master’s degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Biology). Ph.D. is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience in biotechnology
  • Proven track record in the manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients
  • Proven track record in product and technology industrialization
  • Proven track record in process development for biological molecules
  • Proven experience in both leading teams and serving in expert technical functions
  • Experience leading major change initiatives and continuous improvement efforts (Preferred)
