Job Summary

This role is a crucial part of Silicon Austria Labs' contribution to the European Chips Act, focusing on innovation within quantum and semiconductor technologies through the Quantum Pilot Lines. The successful candidate will join interdisciplinary teams in Villach, Austria, working at the intersection of design and fabrication. Day-to-day responsibilities include interfacing with microfab, materials, and system architecture teams to define PDK requirements, and subsequently creating and maintaining comprehensive PDK libraries, including parametrizable cells and robust documentation (design manuals, design rules). A key focus is managing the PDK back-end, involving physical verification utilities (DRC, LVS, PEX) and layout automation. Candidates must possess a minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, coupled with at least five years of relevant professional experience, and proficiency in scripting languages like Python or SKILL. This is a unique, temporary three-year position, with potential for permanent continuation based on performance and funding.

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant work experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • Experience in creating and maintaining databases for documentation and workflow management
  • Hands-on experience with open-access (OA) tools, software, and environments (Preferred)
  • Previous involvement in PDK development for semiconductor or MEMS technologies (Preferred)
  • Industry experience in PDK development (Strong plus)
