Job Summary

This permanent position as a Civil Engineer within the Federal Waterways and Shipping Directorate (GDWS) focuses on the critical management of crossing structures (bridges, culverts, and underpasses) across Germany's federal coastal and inland waterways. Day-to-day responsibilities involve providing expert technical advice and project support to subordinate Waterways and Shipping Offices. You will be responsible for technical supervision, shaping strategic concepts for major new construction and maintenance projects, and rigorously reviewing and approving essential planning documents, tenders, and budgetary submissions. The role requires collaboration with state authorities and participation in interdisciplinary working groups. Key qualifications include a completed Bachelor's or FH Diploma in Civil Engineering. Desirable skills include profound knowledge of structural engineering, deep foundations, or steel construction, coupled with experience in public contract management.
