Job Summary

This role involves working within a four-person central accounting team for the city administration of Mönchengladbach, focusing on balance sheet coordination and expert consultation. Day-to-day tasks include preparing annual financial statements, requesting and controlling balance sheet-relevant accounts (receivables and liabilities), and professionally supporting local and supra-local audits. A key component is providing ongoing expert advice to decentralized departments on booking transactions and contributing accounting expertise to the planning of large-scale projects in collaboration with investment controlling and the budget department. The successful candidate will also be responsible for creating and maintaining central guidelines, such as balancing and account assignment directives, and proactively addressing complex or unusual booking and balancing issues. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and practical experience in municipal financial management.

Required Skills

Education

Completed Bachelor's degree or comparable qualification with a focus on administrative, legal, or economic sciences, including job-related course content; OR qualification for career group 2, 1st entry level of the non-technical administrative service; OR completed Administrative Course II.

Experience

  • At least two years of task-related professional experience OR at least two years of experience in administrative processing within a public administration setting
  • Professional experience and knowledge in New Municipal Financial Management (NKF), including balance sheet, general ledger, and sub-ledger accounting
  • Experience applying accounting software products such as SAP, KAI, d.3, and KOMA

  • Must meet the qualification requirements for salary group E 11 TVöD-V or pay grade A 12 LBesG NRW (for existing civil servants). Full-time work is 39 hours per week (tariff employees) or 41 hours per week (civil servants). The position is permanent (unbefristet).
