This role seeks a highly motivated Research Associate to drive the REMBIO project, focusing on developing advanced technology to combat harmful biofilms and germs in complex water systems. Day-to-day responsibilities involve the planning, execution, and operation of experiments within a prototype test facility. Key tasks include establishing robust analytical methods for sampling and implementing sequencing analysis for mixed microbial populations. The associate will also be responsible for the cultivation of microorganisms, meticulous documentation, and presenting results to project partners and funding bodies. Success requires a Master's degree in Biology or Biotechnology, coupled with professional experience in a microbiological laboratory setting. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in developing sequencing methods, particularly utilizing Oxford Nanopore Technology, and possess very strong bioinformatics skills. The role demands organizational talent, excellent communication, and a willingness to travel to ensure successful project coordination and delivery.

Education

Master's Degree (or equivalent University Diploma) in Biology or Biotechnology

Experience

  • Professional experience working in a microbiological laboratory
  • Experience developing sequencing methods using Oxford Nanopore Technology
  • Experience with device-specific software for real-time PCR devices (Desirable)
