Job Summary

This role involves coordinating and managing network infrastructure requirements, specifically focusing on the interface between the central network and the Measurement/Laboratory/Scientific Network (Wissenschaftsnetz) of the German Environment Agency (UBA). The specialist will be responsible for the conception, planning, implementation, and secure operation of network transitions and the UBA's Wi-Fi infrastructure across all locations. Key daily tasks include monitoring availability and security compliance, coordinating external service providers, and acting as the primary contact for technical departments regarding the scientific network. Candidates should possess a degree in Informatics or a related technical field, or have completed vocational training as an IT Specialist, coupled with relevant professional experience. Strong skills in firewall, router, and switch administration, alongside excellent German language proficiency, are essential for success in this critical infrastructure role.

Education

University degree (Bachelor, Diplom (FH)) in Informatics, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Communications Technology, or equivalent IT-related studies; alternatively, completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker*in)

Experience
