Job Summary

This role is for a Technical Employee specializing in Isotope Gas Geochemistry within the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR). The core focus is performing gas geochemical analyses of stable isotopes (13C/12C and 2H/1H) from field campaigns and lab experiments, crucial for characterizing hydrocarbon and CO2 sources and microbial processes. Key responsibilities include planning laboratory procedures, managing sample flow, developing methods, and ensuring quality management. The employee will also be responsible for maintaining two coupled Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry systems and associated peripheral equipment, managing lab organization (including hazardous materials registry), and handling central gas supply procurement and logistics. The ideal candidate must be a certified Chemical Laboratory Technician with extensive practical experience (at least three years) in independent lab work using complex mass spectrometry systems and possess strong technical knowledge in isotope chemistry and laboratory safety protocols.

  • Technical knowledge in analyzing complex sample mixtures (e.g., gases) with a mass spectrometer
