Job Summary

This role as a Geoinformatics Specialist at the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) involves crucial programming and data management tasks focused on specialized soil and hydrogeological information systems. The specialist will be responsible for developing, programming, and documenting complex evaluation routines, including the application of machine learning techniques to analyze earth science data. Key daily activities include creating and automating the use of web services for efficient data acquisition, maintaining technical specialized databases, and transforming data into required exchange formats. Furthermore, the role involves conducting technical data evaluations, modeling, and providing expert technical advice for international cooperation projects. To succeed, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Geoinformatics or a related field, proven experience in R and/or Python programming, and strong analytical capabilities.
