Job Summary

This role involves managing complex railway infrastructure projects, specifically focusing on signaling systems, telecommunications, and electrical systems (STE) for the German railway network. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end project management across all service phases (HOAI), ensuring timely planning, tendering, and contracting of specialist firms. Key daily activities include preparing service specifications, managing tender and award documents, securing necessary permits, and coordinating closely with regulatory bodies like the Federal Railway Authority (EBA). The ideal candidate holds a degree in engineering (e.g., electrical, telecommunications, or industrial engineering) and ideally possesses initial experience in infrastructure project management. Success in this position requires a structured, autonomous working style, strong commercial acumen, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, authorities, and external contractors, ensuring projects adhere to strict budget, schedule, and technical requirements.

Required Skills

Education

University or technical college degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a comparable field; alternatively, comparable qualification with long-term professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in project management of infrastructure projects (ideally first experience)
  • Knowledge in signaling and safety technology, railway power supply, or electrical energy systems (advantageous)
