Job Summary

This role at the German Weather Service (DWD) in Freiburg involves critical technical support for environmental analysis, focusing specifically on pollen and air quality monitoring within the Center for Medical-Meteorological Research. The specialist will be responsible for the comprehensive operation, maintenance, and development of the air hygiene database, including data archiving, validation, and user management. Key daily tasks include conducting, evaluating, and ensuring the quality of air quality measurements for coarse dust, fine dust, and soot, alongside the sampling, analysis, and documentation of manual and automatic pollen measurements. The position requires a successfully completed technical assistant qualification (e.g., in Biology, Chemistry, or MTLA) and fluent German proficiency (C1). This is a permanent position offering flexible working hours and the opportunity to contribute to essential environmental and medical-meteorological research.

Required Skills

Education

Relevant technical assistant qualification (e.g., in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Medical Technical Laboratory Assistant (MTLA)).

Experience

  • Professional experience in the operation, maintenance, and development of technical databases, including data archiving and preparation.
  • Professional experience in conducting, evaluating, and quality assuring air quality measurements (coarse dust, fine dust, soot).
  • Experience in sampling, analysis, and documentation of manual and automatic pollen measurements.
  • Desirable experience in physical measurement technology and microscopy.
