Job Summary

This is a leadership opportunity for a qualified Civil Engineer (FH Diploma/Bachelor) to head the Brodenbach District Office of the Mosel-Saar-Lahn Waterways and Shipping Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and direction of the district, overseeing a highly frequented 37 km section of the regulated Mosel waterway, which handles 8–10 million tons of freight annually, alongside passenger and sports boat traffic. Key responsibilities include leading staff, managing personnel matters, ensuring occupational safety, handling budget planning, preparing technical reports for maintenance, and managing permits and construction contracts (VOB/VOL). The role requires strong leadership, expertise in civil engineering (preferably hydraulic or structural engineering), knowledge of public administration, and experience with procurement law and construction site safety. This permanent, full-time position offers a crucial role in maintaining critical federal waterways infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

FH Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (preferably Hydraulic Engineering or Structural Engineering); or equivalent qualifications/experience; or successful completion of the career examination for the elevated technical administrative service

Experience

  • Professional experience in public (construction) administration (desirable)
  • Professional experience in the construction and planning of civil engineering structures
  • Professional experience in procurement and contract law (VOB, VgV, UVgO)
  • Professional experience in occupational safety, especially on construction sites
  • Experience in leading and developing employees
