Job Summary

This role is a fixed-term, part-time (65%) PhD position within Prof. Rutsch's interdisciplinary research group, focusing on the molecular basis and therapeutic options for ectopic calcifications, specifically targeting retinal calcifications relevant to diseases like pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The successful candidate will primarily test innovative nanoparticulate therapeutic systems in animal models (mice). Day-to-day activities involve applying state-of-the-art technologies such as electron microscopy, fluorescence imaging, and electroretinography. Key requirements include a completed Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline, willingness to conduct animal experiments, and strong proficiency in both German and English. This position offers a challenging role at the intersection of experimental and clinical research, providing excellent facilities and opportunities to deepen expertise in advanced histological and imaging techniques while pursuing a doctorate.
