Job Summary
The University of Bremen is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Molecular Neurobiology group within the Faculty of Biology/Chemistry. This role, available for three years, focuses on systemic neurobiology, specifically investigating the visual system of mice, interactions between different brain regions, and understanding the role of inhibitory neurons in the cortical code. Day-to-day responsibilities involve both research and teaching, including delivering 4 hours per week of academic instruction to Bachelor's and Master's students, providing practical skills training, and contributing to academic self-governance. The ideal candidate holds a relevant PhD and possesses strong expertise in neuroscience, in vivo imaging techniques (2-Photon, Miniscope, or wide field), and neuronal data analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated researcher with programming skills (preferably Python) to contribute to an interdisciplinary research environment focused on systems and computational neuroscience.
Required Skills
Education
Successful completion of a scientific university degree (Master/University Diploma) in Biology, Bioinformatics, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field, and a relevant PhD/Doctorate.
Experience
- Professional experience in neuroscience research
- Experience with in vivo imaging techniques
- Experience in the analysis of neuronal data
- Experience working with animals (mice model)
- First experience in student supervision is welcomed but not required

- The contract duration is limited to 3 years for scientific qualification purposes according to § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG (German Fixed-Term Employment Contracts in Academia Act). Applicants must still have sufficient qualification time remaining under this act.
