Job Summary

This position at the Center for Molecular Bioengineering (B CUBE) at TUD Dresden University of Technology is seeking a Research Associate or PhD Student to join a DFG-funded project focused on elucidating the structure-function relationship of Silicanins in Diatom Silica Morphogenesis. The successful applicant will engage in cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research spanning biology, chemistry, and materials science, investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying lipid-bilayer mediated biomineralization using diatoms as a model system. Daily activities include applying state-of-the-art biochemical, molecular genetic, and cell biological tools, and collaborating closely with international structural biology groups. Candidates must hold an MSc in biochemistry, molecular genetics, molecular cell biology, or a related field, possess strong research experience in protein biochemistry, and demonstrate excellent scientific writing and communication skills. This part-time (65% FTE) role is initially limited to three years and offers a significant opportunity for further academic qualification (PhD).

Master's Degree (MSc) in Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Cell Biology, or related fields

Experience

  • Professional experience in protein biochemistry (preferred)
  • Proven track record of successful research
  • Prior experience in genome engineering (advantageous)
  • Prior experience in mass spectrometry (advantageous)
