Job Summary

This role involves cutting-edge research and development focused on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) within the context of 6G Joint Communication and Sensing (JCAS) systems at the prestigious Fraunhofer FHR. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative RIS concepts, conducting electromagnetic simulations (using tools like CST, HFSS, or COMSOL), and optimizing these structures. Key daily tasks include designing and building RIS prototypes, selecting materials, managing manufacturing processes, and integrating RIS into complex communication and radar systems. This position requires a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field, coupled with strong knowledge of high-frequency technology, antenna design, and programming skills (Python/MATLAB). The role offers significant creative freedom, the opportunity to publish high-level scientific papers, present at international conferences, and mentor students, making it ideal for a highly motivated researcher passionate about advanced radar and communication technologies.

Required Skills

Education

Master's or Diploma degree in Electrical Engineering, Communication Technology, Physics, or a comparable field

Experience

  • Professional experience in high-frequency technology and electromagnetic simulation

  • Experience with circuit design and PCB layout is beneficial
