Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Research Scientist to drive agile product development focusing on new aluminum products derived from secondary (recycled) sources at Speira, a major European aluminum rolling and recycling leader. The core responsibility involves acting as the central expert on process parameters and their influence on microstructure development, utilizing this expertise to create profitable new products. Day-to-day tasks include designing and executing targeted lab experiments based on hypotheses, scaling successful findings up to full production mill trials, and applying metallophysical models to predict phase formation, dislocation development, and recrystallization behavior. The successful candidate must possess deep knowledge of aluminum metallurgy and the rolling process chain, coupled with strong project management skills. This position requires a collaborative spirit, actively coaching less experienced colleagues, and participating in knowledge exchange to ensure products are both economically viable and state-of-the-art.
