Job Summary

This role involves working as a Scientific-Technical Staff Member focused on developing EPICS SCADA software for the Radiation Monitoring System at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum and the international FAIR facility. Key daily responsibilities include implementing EPICS device support and interface drivers for new and existing measurement hardware, and defining system architectures for real-time data acquisition and control integration. The developer will also be responsible for creating interactive graphical user interfaces, visualization dashboards, and establishing robust solutions for data logging and archiving using time-series or relational databases. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Physics, and possesses practical experience with the EPICS control system, C/C++, Python, and Linux. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Diploma (University) in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Practical experience with the EPICS control system
  • Practical knowledge of Linux and real-time systems
  • Experience in hardware integration via standard protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, RS232, SCPI)
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
