Research Assistant and Doctoral Candidate (Ultrafast Dynamics) | Research assistant (m/f/d)
Leibniz-Institut für Oberflächenmodifizierung e.V.
Job Summary
This role, based at the Leibniz Institute for Surface Engineering (IOM) in Leipzig, involves fundamental research into the ultrafast dynamics of singlet fission in complex molecular architectures. The successful candidate will conduct ultrafast time-resolved UV/Vis-absorption and emission spectroscopy on molecular triads and pentads. Daily tasks include combining various spectroscopic techniques (in-situ UV/Vis-absorption, steady state emission, and EPR spectroscopy) to characterize light-induced excited states and spin chemistry. The goal is to establish structure-dynamics-function relationships and develop a molecular-mechanistic understanding of light-driven spin switching processes. This is a unique opportunity for a candidate with a background in experimental physics or chemistry to pursue a fully funded, part-time (67%) doctorate over a 36-month period, working within an interdisciplinary team focused on high-impact emerging technologies.
