Job Summary

The Data Steward at the Leibniz Institute for Surface Modification (IOM) in Leipzig plays a crucial role in advancing the institute's research by establishing and maintaining robust Research Data Management (RDM) practices. This position involves creating and updating the RDM concept, setting up and managing necessary software, and actively consulting and training scientific staff on RDM principles and software development. A significant aspect of the role is supporting the acquisition of third-party funding in RDM or Software Engineering. Candidates must hold a university degree in a MINT field (Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Engineering), ideally complemented by a Ph.D. Expertise in RDM, particularly in chemistry or physics, or proven expertise in Software Engineering is required, alongside experience with software development, database systems, and knowledge of at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java). The position offers a stimulating, interdisciplinary environment, flexible working models, and the potential for a permanent contract after an initial two-year temporary period. Fluency in both German and English is mandatory.

Education
