Job Summary

This leadership role is based in Heilbronn, Germany, and involves managing and overseeing civil engineering maintenance and construction projects for the city's operational department, which handles the upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance of all structural facilities. The Head of Civil Engineering Projects will be responsible for the technical supervision of civil engineering maintenance teams, ensuring traffic safety, and leading various construction projects. Key day-to-day tasks include tendering and awarding external contracts, coordinating and monitoring both in-house and external services, managing cost and performance accounting, and post-calculating construction measures. The ideal candidate must be a certified Master Craftsman or Technician in Civil Engineering, or possess relevant experience as a Construction Manager, coupled with required leadership skills and knowledge of relevant civil engineering laws and standards. A Class B driver's license is mandatory, and the role requires strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills, along with the willingness to represent the department publicly.

Required Skills

Education

Certified Master Craftsman (Meister) or Technician (Techniker) in Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualification. Required certification as an Instructor/Trainer (Ausbildereignungsschein) or willingness to acquire it.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a Master Craftsman or Technician in Civil Engineering
  • Relevant experience as a Construction Manager
  • Leadership experience (advantageous)
  • Knowledge in establishing technical departments (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of public procurement law (desirable)
  • Experience with the 'KommunalRegie' specialist application (desirable)
