Job Summary

This part-time (20.5 hours/week) Administrative Specialist role, located in the International Services unit, is offered as a temporary replacement until December 31, 2026. The core responsibilities involve complex case management centered on visa and residency matters. Day-to-day tasks include advising clients, reviewing applications, and making decisions regarding the extension of Schengen visas. The specialist will be responsible for preparing official statements in visa procedures, coordinating closely with German foreign representations, and contributing to statements in appeal proceedings. Key duties also involve conducting interviews for marriage verification and other factual inquiries, as well as processing declarations of commitment, verifying the financial solvency of guarantors, and issuing formal commitment declarations. This position requires strong legal knowledge in residency law, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a demanding environment, offering a responsible role within a collegiate setting.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed training as an Administrative Specialist (Verwaltungsfachangestellte) or Administrative Course I (Verwaltungslehrgang I / former Angestelltenlehrgang I).

Experience

  • Professional experience in applying legal norms and jurisprudence, particularly in Residency Law
  • Experience in independent and solution-oriented work
  • Experience or willingness to train in specialized administrative procedures/software (Fachverfahren)
  • Professional experience demonstrating strong social and intercultural competence
