Job Summary

The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is seeking a Technical Assistant to join the Institute for Biochemistry and Biotechnology, focusing on Microbial Biotechnology. This is a permanent, part-time (75%) position supporting research activities in Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology, and RNA Technology. Day-to-day tasks include preparing cell extracts from plant and human cells, cultivating various cell lines, performing molecular biology techniques such as cloning and RNA extraction (qRTPCR), and executing protein biochemical work. The role also involves essential organizational duties like cleaning, sterilizing lab equipment, maintaining laboratory devices (e.g., calibration, maintenance coordination), and managing plasmid and reagent organization. The ideal candidate must have completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant (TA, BTA, MTA, PTA) or hold a university degree in a relevant scientific field, coupled with professional experience. Strong German language skills are required, and proficiency in MS Office is desired for data evaluation and protocolling.
