This role involves supporting the Biodiversity Synthesis research group at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) in Leipzig. The Technical Assistant will be crucial in laboratory operations, focusing on the identification and counting of zooplankton and insects, professional sample handling, and conducting molecular biology tasks such as eDNA extractions from water/soil samples and PCR amplifications. Key responsibilities also include managing research data, overseeing laboratory inventory, procuring materials, and coordinating auxiliary staff. The position requires a background as a certified Biological/Chemical Technical Assistant or equivalent, proficiency in molecular methods, and fluent German and English. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a State-Certified Biological/Chemical Technical Assistant or equivalent qualification (e.g., Laboratory Technician)

Experience

  • Professional experience in laboratory work, especially in molecular biology
  • Experience preferred in plant and/or animal biology
  • Experience with administrative processes (e.g., invoice processing, travel expense reports)
