Job Summary

This role involves working as a Data Center System Administrator for Ruhrbahn GmbH, a major public transport company in the Ruhr area, where you will actively contribute to climate protection. The core responsibilities include the independent installation, configuration, and administration of server operating systems (Microsoft and Unix-based), virtual environments (VMware), and storage systems (SAN/NAS). Day-to-day tasks focus heavily on planning and securing robust backup management, performing detailed error analysis, troubleshooting system failures, and administering the domain architecture. A key aspect of the role is coordinating and managing external IT service providers and manufacturers. Candidates must hold a degree in Computer Science or an equivalent IT technical qualification, coupled with fundamental knowledge of Microsoft products, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and specific storage/backup management systems (Veeam, NetApp, HPE MSA).
