Job Summary

This role involves working as a Biological-Technical Assistant within a small, international research team at the Heidelberg University Hospital, focusing on translational leukemia research. The assistant will be crucial in investigating the molecular mechanisms of leukemia development and therapy resistance, combining modern molecular biology, cell biology, and bioinformatics approaches to develop personalized therapies. Day-to-day responsibilities include comprehensive lab organization, reagent ordering, cost center management, and performing complex laboratory procedures such as FACS, Western Blot, cell culture, and drug screenings. The position requires a completed BTA, MTA, or CTA qualification, solid knowledge of molecular and cell biology methods, and a highly responsible, structured, and reliable work ethic, especially when handling sensitive samples like cord blood stem cells and mouse cells. The successful candidate will also be responsible for onboarding new team members and must possess good English skills to thrive in the international environment.

Completed vocational training as a Biological-Technical Assistant (BTA), Medical-Technical Assistant (MTA), Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA), or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Professional experience in laboratory work (BTA, MTA, CTA or equivalent qualification)
  • Experience with molecular and cell biological methods
  • Experience in organizing and managing laboratory resources (ordering, cost centers)
  • Experience in training/onboarding new employees
