Job Summary

The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is seeking a dedicated Research Technical Assistant to join their Laboratory of Regenerative Medicine and Immunology. This role involves developing, planning, and executing organoid-based and molecular biology studies with a high degree of responsibility. Key daily tasks include cell culture work, flow cytometry analyses, antibody assays (ELISA, immunoprecipitation, Western blot), and histology. The assistant will also be responsible for supervising and training staff, students, and interns, as well as organizing the research laboratory. This position offers an opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary research environment, collaborating with physicians, scientists, and students to understand tissue regeneration, infections, and immune-mediated diseases, and to develop new therapeutic approaches.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a certified biological technical assistant (BTA) or chemical technical assistant (CTA), or as a biological laboratory technician; alternatively, a university degree in biology, biotechnology, chemistry and biochemistry, molecular life science, molecular biology, or technically applied biology, or a completed scientific university degree in biology or molecular life science.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional experience in a laboratory with BTA tasks/activities (for university degree holders, minimum 30 hours/week)

  • Proof of complete immunization or immunity against the measles virus is required before employment begins.
