Job Summary

This fixed-term Research Associate position focuses on advancing AI-based environment perception for reliable automated driving systems within the Dependable and Autonomous Cyber-physical Systems (DACS) research group at TU Clausthal. The successful candidate will drive research and development in Software Engineering and AI perception, specifically focusing on implementing and evaluating complex perception components like LiDAR, Radar, and Camera fusion within a robust Autoware-based software architecture. Day-to-day tasks involve designing real-time systems, establishing data pipelines for sensor validation, optimizing algorithms for accuracy and runtime, and actively shaping software engineering processes such as CI/CD and testing strategies. A core requirement is a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, coupled with deep knowledge of deep learning, sensor fusion, and excellent programming proficiency in C++ and Python. This role offers a unique opportunity to test innovative approaches on a real automated shuttle and pursue a doctoral degree.

Required Skills

Education

Master's or Diploma degree (with very good to good performance) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mathematics, or related fields.

Experience

  • Professional experience in Software Engineering
  • Professional experience in AI-based Perception (e.g., Deep Learning, Sensor Fusion)
  • Experience developing AI methods based on neural networks
  • Experience with common development tools (Git, CI/CD, IDEs)
  • Experience in the development of automated driving systems (desirable)
  • Experience in validation or simulation of AI-based functions (desirable)
