Job Summary

This Research Associate position, based at the Institute for Software and Systems Engineering (ISSE) at Clausthal University of Technology, offers the opportunity to pursue a PhD in Computer Science while contributing to the Automating Cyber-Physical System Design (ACPS) research group. The role focuses on advanced methods for building correct and efficient embedded systems, tackling challenges such as increasing system lifespan by adapting to physical wear and securely embedding Artificial Intelligence into complex systems. Day-to-day tasks include conducting research and development, often in collaboration with external scientists, designing and implementing research prototypes, and publishing results at international conferences. The associate will also support teaching activities, including preparing lectures and supervising students. Candidates must hold a relevant Master's degree (Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, or similar), possess strong programming skills, and demonstrate a structured, independent approach to scientific work. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to three years, offering flexible working hours and a supportive, family-friendly environment.

Required Skills

Education

Master's or Diploma degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Mathematics, or similar field (Good grade required)

Experience

  • Interest in scientific work within the scope of a doctorate
  • Professional experience with common software development tools (e.g., Git or integrated development environments) (Desirable)
  • Experience and/or prior knowledge in formal methods or other theoretical sub-areas of Information Technology (Desirable)
