This role involves cutting-edge research and development in software engineering for reliable and safe automated driving, specifically focusing on autonomous shuttles for public roads. Day-to-day tasks include conceptualizing, designing, and implementing software architectures and prototypes, developing and evaluating methods and software systems directly on a real test vehicle, and applying modern software engineering approaches like agile methods and CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, strong software engineering knowledge, excellent programming skills in Python and C++, and experience with development tools like Git. The position offers the unique opportunity to pursue a PhD while contributing to innovative projects in a supportive, interdisciplinary team.

Required Skills

Education

Master's or Diploma degree (with very good to good grades) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Informatics, Mathematics, or related fields.

Experience

  • Professional experience in software engineering (e.g., software architecture, development processes, quality assurance)
  • Experience with common development tools (Git, CI/CD, IDEs, Issue Tracking)
  • Strong interest in scientific work and willingness to pursue a PhD
  • Desirable: Experience in software testing, runtime monitoring, or automated driving systems development
  • Desirable: Knowledge of modern software development methods (e.g., Scrum, model-based development)
  • Desirable: Initial experience with scientific publications or project work in complex software system development, especially in software architecture design
