Job Summary

This permanent, part-time position (50%, 19.92 hours/week) as an IT Technician at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum supports the Faculty of Computer Science, focusing on the highly specialized Chair of Information Security. The role is centered on comprehensive system administration, requiring the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of diverse hardware (PCs, servers, cluster environments) and operating systems, including Linux, macOS, and Windows. Key technical responsibilities include managing network services (HTTP, DNS, DHCP), virtualization platforms (Docker, VMware), backup systems, and monitoring, often utilizing scripting languages like Bash and Python. The technician will also manage equipment procurement and provide essential technical support to staff in both German and English. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a comparable field and demonstrate strong technical knowledge.
