Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Research Associate to pursue a four-year doctoral project focused on Protein Biochemistry and Biocatalysis within the Photobiotechnology group. The core work involves investigating the biogenesis of biological catalysts, specifically hydrogen-producing enzymes (Hydrogenases) and other redox proteins, to enable environmentally friendly production of molecular hydrogen. Day-to-day tasks include cloning and manipulating sequences for heterologous expression, purifying and characterizing recombinant proteins using advanced biochemical and biophysical methods (like Cryo-EM, ICP-MS, and Infrared Spectroscopy), analyzing data, and developing research plans. Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in a relevant biological or biotechnological field, possess strong molecular biology and biochemical knowledge, and be eager to work interdisciplinarily. This role offers excellent supervision and integration into an internationally networked research environment with strong ties to industrial biotechnology.
