Job Summary

This part-time (20 hours/week), fixed-term Research Associate position at the University of Rostock focuses on cutting-edge plant genetics research, specifically investigating drought stress tolerance in sunflowers, with the explicit goal of achieving scientific qualification (PhD). Daily tasks involve conducting complex molecular analyses, including RNAseq and SNP analyses, marker development, and in vitro cultivation of sunflowers for drought tolerance selection. A significant component of the role is academic teaching (2 SWS), preparing and grading student examinations, and supporting organizational tasks within the Institute for Biosciences. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in Functional Plant Science, excellent proficiency in analyzing RNAseq data, and proven experience in the CROPINNO project and publishing research findings. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (State Examination, Diploma, Master, or comparable) in Biology with specialization in Functional Plant Science, achieved with a minimum of a very good result.

Experience

  • Very good experience in the scientific and general processing of the CROPINNO project
  • Very good experience in the in vitro cultivation of sunflowers
  • Experience in publishing own research results
  • Professional experience in scientific qualification (PhD track)
