Job Summary

This permanent, full-time position requires an IT Specialist to join the Digital Processing (DV) Team within the State Office for Nature, Environment, and Climate (LANUK) in Essen. The core responsibility is the administration and continuous development of the specialized information system used for monitoring air quality across North Rhine-Westphalia. Day-to-day tasks involve managing users, ensuring data security, and technically integrating measurement technology. You will maintain IT infrastructure stability through regular data backups, server monitoring (Linux/Windows), and hardware oversight. Furthermore, you will collaborate with colleagues to advise and train departmental staff on IT topics and actively support the implementation of fundamental IT security concepts (IT-Grundschutz). Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, strong German language skills (C1 minimum), and professional experience managing IT infrastructure and network backup strategies.
