This part-time (66.67%) Technical Assistant role at the University of Greifswald supports the Institute for Botany & Landscape Ecology, covering a fixed-term parental leave until February 2027. The successful candidate will be crucial in preparing and co-supervising practical botanical courses, including species identification exercises, field placements, and plant anatomy practicals, ensuring demonstration materials are available for lectures. A significant portion of the work involves curatorial duties for the extensive botanical collections (approx. 250,000 specimens), requiring technical maintenance, pest control, coordination of digitization projects, and managing loans and tours. Furthermore, the assistant supports organismic-botanical research by operating and maintaining specialized equipment such as flow cytometers and scanning electron microscopes, performing sample preparation, and conducting necessary fieldwork (e.g., collecting trips in MV) and laboratory experiments. Candidates must hold a relevant technical assistant qualification, possess advanced knowledge of native vascular plants, and demonstrate proficiency in German and English, alongside strong teamwork skills.
